Why Toronto Families Choose Tutoring Jedi

Diagnostic First

No Wasted Sessions

Every engagement starts with a full diagnostic. Neil identifies exactly where you're losing points — by section, topic, and question type — before a single coaching session begins. You only work on what will actually move your score.

One-on-One

Always Neil, Every Session

No junior tutors, no rotating staff. Every session is one-on-one with Neil directly — someone who knows your history, your weak spots, and your goals. This consistency is what separates real improvement from surface-level prep.

GTA Context

Understands Your School System

Neil knows the Ontario curriculum, the competitive landscape of GTA high schools, and the US admissions strategies that work for Canadian students. His advice is specific to your situation — not generic American test prep advice.

End-to-End

Beyond the Test Score

A strong test score is one piece of an application. Neil also offers university admissions counselling — school selection, essay strategy, and application review — for students applying to top schools in the US, Canada, UK, and beyond.

What GTA Students & Parents Say

★★★★★
1280 → 1430 · +150 pts SAT

"Neil helped me go from a 1280 to a 1430 in just 10 weeks. He immediately identified exactly where I was losing points and built every session around fixing those gaps. I couldn't believe how targeted and efficient the prep was."

— Aisha R., Grade 12 Student, Toronto
★★★★★
ACT 29 → 34 · +5 points

"My daughter had plateaued at 29 with another tutor. Neil figured out it was her timing strategy on the Math section, not her knowledge. That insight changed everything. She scored a 34 and got into her first-choice school."

— Patricia M., Parent, North York
★★★★★
GMAT +80 pts · Admitted to Kellogg

"Neil's structured approach helped me improve my GMAT by 80 points over 8 weeks. He knew exactly which question types were costing me marks. I got into my first-choice MBA program. Worth every session."

— David K., MBA Applicant, Markham
★★★★★
GRE Quant 158 → 167 · Princeton PhD

"Neil helped me raise my GRE Quant from 158 to 167 and gave me incredibly useful feedback on my statement of purpose. I'm now at my top-choice PhD program at Princeton. His support went far beyond just the test."

— Mei L., PhD Student, Princeton — originally from Richmond Hill
★★★★★
Admitted to UPenn & UChicago

"Neil guided me through SAT prep and my full university application. His advice was honest and strategic — he knew which schools to target and how to position my application. I genuinely don't think I would have gotten in without him."

— Rohan S., Grade 12, Thornhill
★★★★★
Grade 11 Physics · 61 → 78

"My son was at risk of not meeting his university offer conditions. Within six weeks he went from a 61 to a 78. Neil has a rare ability to make a student feel capable rather than overwhelmed. We are so grateful."

— Susan H., Parent, Markham

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you offer in-person tutoring in Toronto and the GTA?
Yes. Neil offers in-person sessions in Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area, including North York, Markham, Thornhill, and Richmond Hill. In-person availability depends on scheduling — contact Neil to discuss what works for your location and timeline.
Can Canadian students take the SAT and ACT for US university admissions?
Absolutely — and many do. Canadian students applying to US universities are treated the same as American applicants for test score purposes. The SAT and ACT are offered at test centres across the GTA, including in Toronto, Markham, and surrounding areas. Neil advises GTA students on the full US admissions process, not just test prep.
Is the SAT or ACT better for GTA students?
There's no universal answer — it depends on the student's strengths. The Ontario curriculum aligns somewhat more naturally with ACT Math (which goes up to trigonometry, similar to the Ontario Grade 12 Advanced Functions course). However, many GTA students perform better on the SAT due to its less time-pressured format. Neil can advise after a short diagnostic session.
Do Canadian universities require the SAT or ACT?
Generally, no. Most Canadian universities — UofT, UBC, McGill, Queen's, Western — admit students based on Ontario high school grades, not SAT/ACT scores. However, some competitive programs and scholarship applications may consider them. The SAT/ACT is primarily valuable for students targeting US universities.
What is the typical timeline for SAT or ACT prep?
Most students benefit from 8–12 weeks of preparation. For students in Grade 10 or 11 targeting US universities, starting early gives the most flexibility — including the option to retake. Neil recommends beginning prep at least 3 months before your target test date.
Do you also help with university admissions counselling?
Yes. Beyond test prep, Neil offers full university admissions counselling for both undergraduate and MBA programs — school selection, essay strategy, application review, and interview preparation. His students have been admitted to Harvard, Stanford, Yale, UPenn, UChicago, Northwestern, University of Toronto, UBC, McGill, Oxford, and many other institutions.
